New Life

Jesus wants to have a personal relationship with you.

No matter what you’ve done or what you’ve been through, He loves you.

In fact, He loves you so much that He came to Earth, died on the cross, and was raised to life again to save YOU from sin, give you a new life, and bring you into relationship with God.

Salvation is the start of that relationship.

In deciding to follow Jesus, you’re acknowledging that your way isn’t working anymore. That you’re done trying to figure life out on your own, and you’re giving Jesus control.

From that moment on, you’re never alone. Jesus is the friend who never leaves you or forsakes you.

When you call on the name of Jesus, you have made heaven your forever home, and you have become a child of God with the full rights and benefits of His Kingdom! Salvation is about more than what happens when you die—it’s the way to experience a full life with God here and now.

Are you ready for a relationship with Jesus?

The Bible says that all you have to do is call on the name of Jesus.

Of course, it isn’t entirely about the words that you say. It is about knowing that you need Jesus as your Savior, that you want to have a personal relationship with Him, and that you want to live the good life God has for you.

It’s the most important decision you can ever make.

You can start a new life with Jesus right now by praying this very simple prayer out loud:

“Jesus, I need You. Make me brand new on the inside. Forgive me for my mistakes. Do a work in me. Thank You that You died so I can live. I want to be a child of God with all the rights and benefits of Your Kingdom. Amen.”

If you prayed that prayer, CONGRATULATIONS! You just took the first step toward your new life with God!

  • Where Do I Go From Here?

“‘FOR I KNOW THE PLANS I HAVE FOR YOU,” DECLARES THE LORD, “PLANS TO PROSPER YOU AND NOT TO HARM YOU, PLANS TO GIVE YOU HOPE AND A FUTURE.”

    —JEREMIAH 29:11 (NIV)

GET BAPTIZED IN WATER. Water baptism is an event. It’s an outward symbol of the inward change that God is doing in your life. It helps you mark the spot when you become alive to God. We strongly recommend that all believers have this marking point in their lives. In 2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV), it says, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” When you’re baptized, it represents the “old you” going under the water and being buried once and for all. When you come up out of the water, it symbolizes the birth of the “new you.” You have been born again in freedom, and that’s what baptism symbolizes. Even Jesus was baptized in water! We offer water baptisms every second weekend of the month.

GET THE BAPTISM OF THE HOLY SPIRIT. God wants to move powerfully in your life, and the Holy Spirit is how He does it. Acts 10:38 tells us that God anointed Jesus with the Holy Spirit and with power, which enabled Him to do good and to heal all who were oppressed by the devil. God gave you the gift of the Holy Spirit because you need the same power Jesus had—the power to bring God on the scene in every circumstance and situation. This experience is accompanied by the evidence of speaking in other tongues—your prayer language—as the Holy Spirit Himself gives utterance. It’s like a secret code that Satan cannot understand, and it helps you hear God’s voice.

DISCOVER YOUR DESTINY. God has a plan for your life, and He made you unique with something wonderful to do here on Earth. You have a purpose. You were not a mistake. So, how do you find out why you are here? Listen to the One who made you and understands you best—Father God. Dream the dreams He has for your life. Don’t let fear stop you. There is no one who has your personality, gifts, and destiny.

LIVE FOREVER WITH GOD, NEVER TO DIE. You are three parts: spirit, soul, and body (1 Thessalonians 5:23). When your body dies, your spirit keeps on living forever. If you’ve made Jesus your Lord, your true home is heaven. In heaven, there is no such thing as evil or suffering, because God is there (Revelation 21:3–4, John 14:1–4).

  • Water Baptism

Water baptism is an important declaration of your changed heart. When you’re baptized, you’re briefly submerged under water to identify with the death and burial of Jesus, then raised out of the water to identify with His resurrection and to symbolize your brand-new life. There is power in this celebration. Jesus was baptized when He was on the earth, and we do this to follow His example.

Water baptism is a public declaration of three very important things:

    • You are a follower of Jesus Christ.

Those who accepted his message were baptized.

    —Acts 2:41a (NIV)

    • You are beginning a changed life in Christ.

We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.

    —Romans 6:4 (NIV)

    • You are part of a new family.

So in Christ Jesus, you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.

    —Galatians 3:26–27 (NIV)

At Faith Life Church, water baptisms take place on the second Sunday of each month at 10:15 a.m. and are offered at both campuses. Please ask a team member for more information or fill out the sign-up form below. Feel free to stop by the Welcome Kiosk for more information.

  • Join the Community

It’s so important who you surround yourself with in the coming weeks. You might find that some of your current friends don’t understand your new faith, or they want you to hang out and do things that don’t feel right anymore. We don’t want you to feel alone! Be encouraged that you now belong to the family of God, and our church is here to be a house where you feel safe, accepted, and that you belong. And remember, even if friendships shift or change, Jesus is the friend who sticks with you every single day.

We also invite you to join the community here through Small Groups, an opportunity to connect with others while growing in your Christian walk. Small Groups are a place to receive encouragement, develop community, and meet once a week in homes, businesses, restaurants, or other locations throughout the city. Some groups continue throughout the year, and you can jump in at any time. Others stop and start in three different sessions throughout the year, but you are free to join at any point throughout each session. We strongly believe that the best way for you to grow quickly and fully experience all that Faith Life Church has to offer is through Small Groups!

  • What’s the Plan of God for My Life?

As children, we have a zeal for life. We dream. We imagine. We think we can become someone great. But as we grow up, life’s troubles start to work at destroying our zeal. They knock us back and drag us down. We get beat up and bruised. We get wounded, and many of us quit. We give up. Instead of pursuing those dreams, we try what the world says will make us happy. We buy things. We change relationships. We seek out new friends, more expensive toys, new jobs, and more status.

But we’re left feeling only more empty and alone, as prisoners in a dark room. Why is life like this?

That’s because God’s original plan was for us never to know fear, failure, loneliness, or pain. Originally, God created and placed mankind on Earth to rule and enjoy freedom, love, beauty, and His own presence. God wanted a family, and He made sons and daughters to love and call His own. But Adam, the first man, ran away from God when he fell for Satan’s lie, a false promise of something better than God’s very best. Adam gave away the perfect life when he sinned.

    But all was not lost.

God put a plan in place to bring His kids back home, into the light. And that’s why God sent His Son Jesus to come to Earth and rescue us from the suffocating, hopeless darkness. Jesus came and took our punishment, our darkness, and defeated it once and for all. He was killed brutally, but death wasn’t strong enough to stop His love for us.

Jesus came back to life on the third day, conquering fear and death once and for all. We didn’t deserve this love, but it is a free gift for anyone who will believe. Jesus came to turn on the light in our darkness.

When we believe and accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we are restored back to God. We begin to see what life is really about, because we are no longer prisoners in the darkness. We are free.

The original reason God created you has never been canceled. He gave you special gifts, your personality, your likes and dislikes, and put you here for such a time as this! We believe in the God-ordained destiny in you, and we want to help you live that out. Give us a year, and get plugged in. We promise you will see amazing results and changes. Your passion for life will grow, your effectiveness in whatever you work at will be multiplied, and your joy will be found in God! It’s an exciting journey that we can’t wait to see as God unfolds the next step in your journey. Here’s a special playlist of teachings by our teaching team that we know you will find encouraging:

The Difference a Year Can Make
  • What About My Past? I’m Not Perfect.

THEREFORE, THERE IS NOW NO CONDEMNATION FOR THOSE WHO ARE IN CHRIST JESUS.

    —ROMANS 8:1 (NIV)

John 1:12 (NIV) says, “Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children [sons and daughters] of God.” If you’ve taken the first step out of that dark room, you will feel new things. You will feel God’s love more and more. Your citizenship no longer belongs in the kingdom of darkness. Your citizenship is in God’s Kingdom, and you are His child. Heaven is your home. Faith is your new language. God is your Father. Darkness no longer has any hold over you, and your past is forgiven.

WHEN I’M SAVED, I AM FORGIVEN.

When God looks at you, He doesn’t see your sins or your imperfections. You are righteous (good) in His eyes because the blood of Jesus paid for the punishment you and I deserved. If you feel condemnation, shame, or guilt, it’s not because of God. You don’t have to make any sacrifices, repeat a prayer over and over again, go to any earthly man to seek God’s forgiveness, give any amount of money, or do any amount of work or service to receive God’s forgiveness. It’s a gift He gives us. He does not remember or count your sins against you (1 John 2:12).

God’s not mad at you. He loves you completely.

    I’M A NEW PERSON.

The Bible says that you are a brand-new creation in God (2 Corinthians 5:17). You’re not just an improved version of your old self. Without Jesus, we walk in the darkness, stumbling our way through life. But as followers of Christ, we walk in the light of His Word and His will. The differences may not be noticeable within minutes, or even days, but if you’ve turned your sins and your life over to God, you will see real change. He transforms you from the inside.

  • Do I Have Power Over Evil?

I HAVE GIVEN YOU AUTHORITY... TO OVERCOME ALL THE POWER OF THE ENEMY; NOTHING WILL HARM YOU.

    —LUKE 10:19 (NIV)

I’M A CITIZEN OF THE KINGDOM OF GOD.

You no longer have to put up with the cursed system of the earth. You have all of the promises and benefits— healing, provision, wholeness, peace—restored to you as a child of God. You belong to heaven’s Kingdom (Philippians 3:20). That means no more darkness!

    I CAN RULE OVER DARKNESS.

When Jesus came, He conquered fear, death, and all darkness once and for all. You may still have to deal with some baggage, but you have authority as a believer. God has given you ALL power over the enemy, and NOTHING can harm you (Luke 10:19). You’ve been invited into a partnership with God. You have His power in you. When it comes to Satan, evil himself, he’s NO contest for an all-powerful, all-knowing, all-loving God. You have nothing to fear.

Now, it’s really important that you know as soon as you take the step out of darkness into God’s Kingdom, there will be changes. You might have friends or family who don’t understand or agree with your new life, and you might experience some problems. Satan will try to do anything he can to stop you from talking to God, getting to church, and discovering truth in the Bible. But you are free from his power, and that includes freedom from sickness, torment, fear, addictions, bad relationships, abuse, and every other painful thing. So, watch for Satan’s attacks, and remember that he has NO power over you.

The power of God inside of you is greater than anything in this world.

  • Are There Things a Christian Should Do to Get Closer to God?

BUT SEEK FIRST THE KINGDOM OF GOD AND HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS, AND ALL THESE THINGS SHALL BE ADDED TO YOU.”

    —MATTHEW 6:33 (NKJV)

PRAY. (Ephesians 6:18) Prayer is just simply talking to God, and He is always listening. Take time throughout your day to talk to God about anything and everything. Ask Him to give you wisdom, direction, and ideas. Ask Him to show you who He is and to help you hear His voice. He is closer than your next breath, and He wants you to be in a close friendship with Him.

KEEP JESUS AS THE FOCUS OF YOUR LIFE. (James 4:7) There will be things that God shows you to do, whether through the Bible, through messages you hear at church, or through spiritual mentors. Simply be obedient to God and keep Him as the focus of your efforts. Invite God and others to speak into your life.

READ THE BIBLE. (Hebrews 4:12) The Bible is the written Word of God, and it’s the story of humanity through the lens of God’s plan to save. The Bible is the only book that is active and alive, able to change your heart, your thoughts, and your habits. It will empower you. It will bring you joy and direction. There are 66 books within the Bible that contain history, instructions on how to live life, prophecy of what is to come, and descriptions of who God is and who you are to Him. We suggest you start by reading the sections (books) titled “Matthew,” “Mark,” and “Romans.” You can also download the Bible app on your phone and read or listen to Scripture that way. But there’s something special about holding a physical Bible in your hands, so if you need one, we have one waiting for you!

ATTEND CHURCH. (Hebrews 10:25) Learn more about who God is, who you are in the Kingdom of God, and how His Kingdom operates as you attend a gathering of believers. There you will grow in your relationship with God, get a better understanding of the Bible, and develop lasting relationships. If you don’t have a local church to attend, join us live each weekend or become part of our online campus at www.faithlifechurch.org.

GET CONNECTED. (John 13:34) Fellowship with other like-minded believers, where you can have fun, make new friends, get support, grow spiritually, and make a difference. This happens in Small Groups, at conferences, and in Dream Teams (ministries) at Faith Life Church.

WATCH YOUR INFLUENCES. (1 Corinthians 15:33) Evaluate your relationships by what God says is right. Be careful who you follow. Surround yourself with people who will encourage your faith. Just remember, who you hang around is who you will become like. This doesn’t mean you should completely abandon friends who may not know Jesus yet, but it does mean that you don’t want to allow them to drag you back into your old habits or ways of thinking.

  • Scriptures About Salvation

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.

    —John 3:16–18 (NIV)

If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.

    —Romans 10:9–10 (NIV)

Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.

    —Acts 4:12 (NIV)

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

    —John 14:6 (NIV)

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

    —Romans 8:38–39 (NIV)

But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

    —John 1:12–13 (ESV)

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.

    —Ephesians 2:8–9 (NIV)

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

    —Romans 6:23 (NIV)

For God has not chosen to pour out his anger upon us but to save us through our Lord Jesus Christ; he died for us so that we can live with him forever, whether we are dead or alive at the time of his return.

    —1 Thessalonians 5:9–10 (TLB)

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

    —2 Corinthians 5:17 (ESV)

As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so we walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving. Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.

    —Colossians 2:6–10 (NKJV)
