The month of December is a great time to just sit back and reflect on what happened throughout the year, but also a great time to start planning for the year ahead. Can you believe 2019 is right around the corner!?
With all that being said, how do you want next year to go? It’s actually more like, how do you want your story to go?
This past month at XM we’ve been talking about our story. How we each have a story, a storybook of our lives. Each is individual and sometimes we try to plan our own lives by taking the pen from God, but God has better for us so we need to let Him step in and write the book.
All this reminds me of a story of something that occurred in my life a few years ago: I had a big project for school – to write a story. At the start, I had a whole story planned out, which included a princess, dragon, and, of course, a prince to save the day. I thought that this was going to be it, and it was going to be the best story I had ever written. But God had other plans…
Some time passed and I never had any motivation to write it. I would just sit in front of the computer but nothing would happen. In time, I only had a week left and not even close to one sentence was complete in the whole story, which was due the following week.
Finally, two days before this was due, I went to God.
I had been so stubborn that I was going to write this amazing paper, I never thought even about asking Him for help. I didn’t want to ask for help, I wanted to do it on my own, even though I clearly needed the help. I ended up going to the Lord and asked Him for help on how to write my story.
What do you know? He ended up bringing me a new a whole new idea for how t write it, even better than my original plan! I wrote the entire paper that day, and turned it in super confidently.
After that experience it was clear to me that we can’t make it through life without God. Once we are willing to get out of the drivers seat and step into the passenger, we can really see how much easier (and even more fun) life can be!
Psalms 16:9 “We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.”
I hope everyone who is reading this will decide to make a change this upcoming year. A change for the better. Just so you can see how cool life is when God is in control. He has an even better story for us than we could even think or imagine! There’s a TobyMac song that says, “Jesus take the wheel.” This is how we should live our lives.
Psalms 16:3 “Commit your actions to the Lord, and your plans will succeed.”
I wish you all a Merry Christmas & I hope you have a great Christmas break! We love you all!
