Life Groups – Fall 2008
September - December 2008

In a changing world, only a few things remain constant...God, His Word and life-long friends. Whether you are sailing along smoothly or are in the middle of a trial, you will live life better if there are people in your life who really care.

What are Life Groups about?
  • Life Groups are for building friendships & establishing community.
  • Life Groups are for coaching individuals to reach their God given potential.
  • Life Groups are about connecting with those who would not normally attend church.

What kinds of Life Groups can I participate in?
Interest Groups- Building relationships, having fun, connecting with your FLC family and those who would not normally attend church.  These are centered around special interests.
Life Enrichment Groups- Growing together in the Word of God and providing a pathway to spiritual maturity and leadership.
Support Groups - These groups are about winning in and bringing support and recovery regarding serious life issues.
High Five Group - These groups are about people serving God and one another through serving in the Ministry of Helps and Outreach.  They are to build community in the team while accomplishing ministry tasks.

Where do they meet?  Homes, businesses, the marketplace, communities or at church.

How long of a commitment do I make to a group?  All life groups have an entry point and an exit point for people to enter and leave.  Some are once per month, some are weekly and some are on an as-needed basis.

There are three sessions in the course of a calendar year:
1. Spring Session: February - May
2. Summer Session: June - August
3. Fall Session: September – December

Five Benefits of Life Groups

  • Helps you to connect with the church.
  • Helps you link with God's purpose and plan for your life.
  • Helps you to grow in your Christian walk through intentional relationship building.
  • Helps you grow as a Christian by being a doer of the Word of God and not a hearer only.
  • Puts you in a structure that creates Biblical duplication, also called discipleship - the Biblical pattern for growth and multiplication.

Glory Girls
The world may have the “Red Hat Society” -however, we at FLC have (drum roll)…THE GLORY GIRLS!!!
These sassy (and sometimes ornery) ladies over 50 are a force to be reckoned with in some side-splitting entertainment.  They may be letting their hair down while putting on skits during ministry at local nursing homes; playing basketball with the teens or wreaking havoc at the local diner with a sing-a-long; however, all the while they are showing the world that age means nothing when it comes to walking in the joy of the Lord!  These Word-packed women take only souls for the Lord when it comes to ministering the Word in love to anyone in need they come across.  So if you are a woman over 50 and are interested in enjoying fellowship via shopping, movies, trying new restaurants and other fun activities throughout the month, and throw in a couple visits a year to Amish country to load up on spices and such (did I mention they like to eat), then come join the FUN!

Kids in Motion – (3 & 4 year olds)
Train up a child in the way they should go, and when they are old, they will not depart from it! We want them to learn about God and walk in His ways. The greatest blessings occur in these classes when the children exercise faith in prayer for one another. Yes, you will impact them, but more than that, they will work their way into your heart.

Statik – College (ages 18-28)
Are you looking for answers?  Wondering how to make a living?  Who you’re going to marry? What you’re supposed to do with your life? Statik is a group that will help you find the answers you are looking for (and perhaps some you weren’t).  Every Saturday night at 8:00pm at “The Mix,” you will break into groups with people who are going through the same things. Through friendships and discussions, you will discover a relevant God with relevant answers. Not only will Statik help you find answers, it will give you a time to build lasting friendships with people your age!   You can pick up an event calendar at The Mix.

Ushers
Do you think being an Usher is just a matter of meet/greet/seat? Well think again…being an Usher is a valuable position in the Body!  Before, during, and after service, the Spirit of God moves on the congregation, and our position is to be there to ensure the Spirit moves freely. We do this by protecting the anointing around Pastor, addressing distractions, assisting members, maintaining security and serving the leadership. It is an important role that we do not take lightly! If you are a person of integrity and feel led to step into one of our Usher positions, we encourage you to get involved.
Timeframe:  Saturday evening and both Sunday morning services as well as special events

You can pick up an event calendar at The Mix.
